On September 28th, the Information Office of the State Council published a white paper on China's Epic Journey from Poverty to Prosperity, which states that a moderately prosperous society in all respects is a society in which all people share the fruits of development.

“Common prosperity” is the grand dream of the Chinese nation that can only be achieved through hard work and mutual support of all people. Businesses and people from the private sector are the beneficiaries and partakers, and more importantly, the advocators and contributors of “promoting common prosperity”.

Keeping in mind our initial aspiration - creating better conditions for schools, we have always set our heart on giving back to the society. The purpose of “creating wealth, rooting for employees and benefiting the society” and the concept of “rapport of people” have inspired us to strive forward with the right approach to the greater good beyond business interest and bolstered our efforts in contributing to the nation’s pursuit of “common prosperity”.

Drive common prosperity with innovation and creation

Focusing on the major national strategic needs and people’s yearning for a better life, NHU offers solutions for the sustainable development of multiple sectors, including feed, agriculture, industry, transportation, and environmental protection with a market-oriented and technology driven approach.

NHU has always remained at the forefront of innovation with open mind for cooperation and active efforts in integrating global resources. Our first major milestone was the development of DEEMM, followed by the successful development of two important main rings and isophytol on the intermediate for VE, and then the ground-breaking core technologies in vitamin A, biotin, methionine, PPS, and other products. Step by step, we have grown from a “small workshop” to an industry leader.

Promote common prosperity through industrial investment

NHU has rolled out its business across the nation with investment in Shangyu in Zhejiang Province, Weifang in Shandong Province, and Suihua in Heilongjiang Province. We give full play to science and technology as the primary productive force and make best out of the local resources. We are also determined to become a role model of wealth creation, boost local economy, and improve people's livelihood wherever we go.

With new plants rising from the ground and towers standing tall, NHU has created 10,000+ jobs and grown its total assets from 580million yuan in 1999 to more than 30billion yuan in 2020. Today, NHU is ever more committed to good faith management and has paid a total tax of up to 9.3billion yuan, ranking on the top in Shaoxing for many years. After two decades of hard work, NHU has woven itself into the social fibers of national economy and people’s wellbeing.

Stride towards common prosperity by empowering the employees

The underlying elements of “common prosperity” are fairness, balance, humanity, and happiness. The success of our employees matters to us.

NHU provides employees with a dual-track career development path stressing both management capabilities and technological practices with mechanisms such as rotation, competitive recruitment and promotion, and secondment at production bases. Through workforce development programs such as mentoring, onboarding, and talent bench, we offer employees a platform and opportunity to fulfil their value and gain a sense of achievement, meaning, and purpose in their day-to-day work.

Guided by the concepts of “performance-based” and “dedicator-first” for its incentive model, NHU is committed to optimizing the gain-sharing system between the company and its employees. We have now put in place short and medium term incentives such as awards of performance, awards of incremental results, and ESOP. By gradually expanding the coverage of stock ownership, NHU increases employees’ income while growing its revenue, so as to create value and wealth, and share risk and benefit with its employees together.  

Realizing the grand dream of common prosperity through public welfare

According to the ancient Chinese philosophy, the highest goodness is accommodating and caring for all things and people with open heart like water and the earth. This is the very virtue that NHU values and embodies in its actions. While seeking for our own development, we actively participate in charity and public welfare campaigns such as fighting against COVID-19, disaster relief, poverty relief, financial aid for poor students, community building, and volunteer services. We have donated in more than 10 provinces.

In recent years, NHU joined the “10,000 enterprises help 10,000 villages” project to accelerate the process of poverty alleviation, providing paired-up assistance to Huangjiashan Village in Xiaojin County, Sichuan Province. We also paired up with Laogu Village in Butuo County, Sichuan Province to speed up lifting it out of poverty via sector-specific programs, pro-consumption campaigns, and volunteer services, so as to prevent intergenerational transmission of poverty. NHU donated 10 million yuan for combating COVID-19 and 12 million yuan for promoting integrated water treatment. With our public spirit in education and civic affairs, we have set up scholarships in several universities including Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Sci-tech University to assist continuous nurturing of talents in chemistry.
